Wonder as a starting point for rich learning environments

Rich learning environments were the focus of the joint study day for all programmes at the Institute of Associate Degrees.

The day was kicked off by Lars Blok. His presentation was about how we can get students to be amazed again. Look up from your school desks, from your books and, above all, from your phones and see the wider world. Let them learn in the real world.

Ilya Zitter’s keynote speech tied in seamlessly, but she also gave us the message that we must stop dividing up this wide world into school years, subjects, learning objectives, tasks, etc. Students then fail to learn how to collaborate with professions with which they would work in practice: think of an event manager and facility manager or a content creator and marketer. Or they learn theory, but they cannot perform integrated professional tasks.

In addition, we were able to introduce 17 colleagues from various ADs to the enrichment scan for learning environments. In three groups, they set to work with the second year of HRM, the Logistics programme and the entire institute.

There were some great exchanges about how various colleagues enriched the eight boundaries in their work. They discovered the enrichment potential and concluded by coming up with concrete ideas or actions to get started on enrichment.
